NEW Leagues for 16U & 19U This fall, high schoolers can choose from two different programs, both offering fun soccer with friends and competitive play against teams from across Area 1C, including Glendale, Arcadia, Alhambra, and other local regions.
The Upper Division Recreational League is for players of all levels looking to practice and play in a well-structured soccer program built on the AYSO core philosophies. Every player makes a team, and rosters will be balanced with an equal distribution of skilled and newer players. This league is like the B16U “House League” we ran last year, but this season, teams from other regions will be part of the fun.
The Upper Division Competitive League is a program for players looking to train and compete alongside more advanced players. There will be one team formed per division, with a limited number of roster spots. This league will compete in the familiar upper-division program organized and run by Area 1C.

NEW Fall EXTRA™ Program for 10U
EXTRA™ is an exciting new program offered by Region 13 for players seeking a more competitive soccer experience while still enjoying the positive, player-centered environment that AYSO is known for. The program runs from Fall through Spring, with teams competing against other EXTRA™ teams across Section 1 West.
Region 13 is launching 10U EXTRA™ this Fall for both girls and boys born between August 1, 2016 and July 31, 2017.
MAY 16, 2026: Girls 10U 10:15–11am | Boys 10U: 11:15am–12pm
JUNE 6, 2026: G10U: 10:15–11am | B10U: 11:15am–12pm JUNE 13. 2026: Girls 10U 10:15–11am | Boys 10U: 11:15am–12pm

World Cup Watch Party!
Get ready to cheer, chant, and celebrate! The City of Pasadena is kicking things off with a massive community watch party for the opener on June 12th... and then the real party happens with us!
On Thursday, June 25th, Region 13 is hosting our very own watch party for the USA 🇺🇸 vs. Türkiye 🇹🇷 match!
We’re bringing the beautiful game to the big screen for a fun, family-friendly event. It’s the perfect chance to cheer on the home team in their crucial third tournament match, hang out with fellow soccer families, and help your kids fall even deeper in love with the beautiful game. Free food and drinks? You bet! 🍕🥤 Chants and high-fives? Mandatory! 👋📣 Epic soccer memories? Guaranteed! ✨

It All Started Here... Region 13 alumna Brooklyn Posin was recently called up to Canada's Women’s National 16U team! At last month‘s training camp, she played in two international friendlies against Sweden and Poland. We knew Brooklyn was a force to be reckoned with during her Grad Series days. She’s a determined competitor and pretty good at every sport, including soccer. Congrats Brooklyn! |
Everyone Lends a Hand
Ever look at our volunteer coaches and referees and think, “Good for them, but definitely not for me”? We completely understand! But did you know that some of our most important roles happen entirely off the field? It takes all kinds of talents to support our soccer league, and we have a place for everyone.
Region 13 is looking for new Volunteers to serve on our Board. Each position presents a range of opportunities and rewards, and each is essential to making our upcoming Fall season a success.

Women’s Coaching Alliance (WCA)—Applications Open!
Region 13 is proud to continue its partnership with the Women’s Coaching Alliance (WCA). The WCA’s program serves young women athletes in their formative years (ages 15-26) and builds their foundational leadership skills and confidence through coaching youth sports. Throughout her journey, a WCA coach is supported by a mentor, a community of peers, and an evidence-based curriculum, so she not only sees her potential to lead but also has the confidence to achieve it. Even better, by increasing female representation, a virtuous cycle begins, inspiring the next generation.
Learn to be a coach through the program with great training, practical application through coaching a team this fall, mentorship, and a stipend. |
Letter from the Commissioner
The World Cup is upon us! Starting on June 11, 48 teams from around the world will compete in stadiums across the US, Mexico, and Canada, culminating in the World Cup Final on July 19. I encourage everyone to watch a few games and cheer on their team. If you’d like to watch the US team play and enjoy this with others, come to the Pasadena Civic Center on June 12, or to our own Region 13 Clubhouse on June 25. It’ll be so much fun.
Many professional soccer players got their start in AYSO. This includes Cobi Jones, the famous midfielder, who first played soccer in nearby Region 4, and Alex Morgan, a striker on the World Cup-winning women’s team, who first played in nearby Region 31. Closer to home, Region 13’s own Brooklyn Posin now plays for Canada’s 16U Women’s National Team. Does this mean that parents should expect our players to become professional soccer phenoms? Most likely not. A good number of kids in our younger divisions won’t even remain in AYSO through their high school years, but our program fills an important niche as “Soccer for Everyone”.
We give every child, regardless of their ability, finances, or family situation, the opportunity to play soccer. And I would encourage everyone to remember that we play a crucial role in that: we never know exactly what effect we will have on the children that are in our care. Maybe they will become the next Alex Morgan; maybe they will become the coach for our children’s children. Let’s help them develop into the best human beings they can be. And who knows—maybe they will excel at soccer too.
